THE CONSTITUENCY MP (2022)

Penned under the unfamiliar moniker of Maurice Oxford, this present day entry in the popular Ladbybird ‘People at Work’ series focuses on the tireless and selfless work of busy constituency MP (and Minister for Women for about a week), Katherine Fletcher. By presenting young and retarded readers with a vivid impression of precisely what a Member of Parliament’s workload consists of, the appeal of a career characterised by dressing-up as policewomen, brickies and garden centre employees is writ large, colourfully portrayed in classic Ladbybird fashion. See Katherine sat at her big computer, driving a traction engine, holding a spanner above her head, eating chips, pulling pints, putting on a serious face, sharing banana ice-cream with her best friend Boris and many other fun-filled activities that will entrance anyone with a mental age of seven!

‘It is always very interesting to explore Amazon's recommendations when looking for books to read. Here we have a satirical slant on the famous Ladybird 'Easy Reading- People at Work' books. The author has chosen photos taken from the Facebook page of a constituency MP. This MP appears to be a back-bencher of no particular clout and appears to be only interested in promoting herself and appears to act with little or rather no concern for her constituents.

Throughout this little book of 25 pages, the author takes us through photo-op upon photo-op, with highly entertaining anecdotes accompanying each page. For instance on page 6 one quip states Her Majesty the Queen is found to be "flippin' ace" and on the next page this MP is on her computer " blocking some of her constituents who disagree with her on social media.’
